FAQs for Child Account – Minor

We have now launched Child Savings Account, a unique proposition designed to offer savings solutions for the children of our valued customers. This new offering enhances our portfolio, enabling us to provide a comprehensive family banking experience.

  • This product is available exclusively to customers holding a UK Personal Current account (HVCA)

  • Child account can be opened by either of the parents or legal guardian 

Current account of Parent or Legal guardian with ICICI Bank UK is mandatory for opening a child account

The savings account will be opened in the name of the child and tagged as a Minor Account. The account will be linked to parent/guardian current account.

Child age can be between 0 to <18 years.

  • Savings Accounts, Deposit and Bonds

  • via RIB of Parent / Legal guardian (Savings account is linked to Parents / Legal guardian UK Personal Current account

  • via iMobile UK of Parent / Legal guardian (Savings account is linked to Parents / Legal guardian UK Personal Current account)

  • There won’t be a separate login for Child account either on Internet Banking or iMobile App

  • For Child

    • Passport copy of Child (India or UK)

    • Copy of Full Birth Certificate (for child having a UK Passport)

  • For Parent / Legal Guardian

    • ID proof (Passport Copy)

    • Address proof (as per existing guidelines)

    • Relationship proof, in case of legal guardian 

The account opening process is manual and requires a physical form submission along with documents by visiting any our UK branches

There is no minimum balance requirement.

  • The interest on the balance in SuperSaver Savings Account is calculated and accrued on a daily basis, depending on the balance maintained in the account that day.

  • The interest is then paid on a monthly basis in the customer’s Savings account. Interest is calculated on the basis of 365 days to a year in respect of Sterling Pound. The interest would be paid on the last working day of the month.

  • Standard interest rate should applied monthly

  • Fund transfer from Linked Current Account via  Internet Banking or iMobile app or through branch (by visiting branch and placing a request for transfer from Current Account to linked Savings Account)

  • The Parent/Guardian will be trustee of the account and can pay in or take out funds whenever required.

  • Only one child savings account can be held per child.

  • As trustee, parent/guardian can only can use the account.

  • The online Banking and mobile App is not available for this type of account. Statement will be provided upon request.

Name change process for child or parent/guardian to be followed as per existing name change documentation policy.

Account closure request would be provided by Parent/Guardian.

  • Parent/Guardian will continue to hold the Child Savings on trust for the child.

  • Upon reaching 18 years the account will be freezed. The Bank will contact minor three months in advance before the 18th birthday, in case customer (child) wants to have an account of their own.

  • If parent and child decide to carry on savings, the bank will take consent from the customer (parent/guardian) and child after their 18th birthday. 

No debit card will be issued for child account.

Note – This is a savings accounts and debit card is only issued for Current Account.

This is a savings account and no  Standing Instruction or Direct Debit can be set-up from Savings Account.
